It’s that time of the month again - introducing our October Bean of the Month: Tanzania Kilimanjaro AA with an excellent cupping score of 85.25.
From the Southern slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro our Bean of the Month features flavours of peach, apricot, dark chocolate, lime, and honeycomb, complemented by aromas of red currant and stone fruit. The clean, citrus acidity and medium body are perfectly accompanied by a long, sweet aftertaste.
Just like in previous months, Tanzania Kilimanjaro AA is available as a normal espresso roast and also a filter roast, which is great use in pourover brewing devices.
The Kilimanjaro plantation is one of the oldest in Tanzania and benefits from its position on the southern slope of Mount Kilimanjaro with ideal climactic and geographic conditions. The region is regarded as one of the best in the world for the cultivation of Arabica coffee due to its uniquely volcanic, fertile, nutrient-rich soil and optimal altitude facilitating a moderate, topical climate.
As one of the largest coffee estates in Tanzania, Kilimanjaro plantation places a high importance on upholding its environmental responsibility. They have recently planted over 10,000 trees to help stabilize the environment, and are now utilising a drip-line irrigation system to reduce their water consumption by up to 60%.
